Lithuania will purchase NASAMS Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Defense Missile System

Lithuania plans to spend more than 100 million euros (112 million U.S. dollars) on Norwegian and American mid-range air defense systems NASAMS, the country's defense minister said on Sunday, September 25, 2016. According to the ministry, two of the country armed force's batteries, military units of a size of a company, would be equipped with the NASAMS systems.

Russian Navy Submarine 'Vladimir Monomakh' Project 955 SSBN arrives at Pacific Fleet Base

The newest Project 955 'Vladimir Monomakh' (NATO reporting name: Dolgorukiy-class/Borei-class) nuclear-powered boat armed with submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SSBN) has finished the transition from the North Fleet to the Pacific Fleet and arrived at its home base, Vilyuchinsk (Kamchatka Krai), according to the press department of Russia`s Ministry of Defense (MoD).

Sikorsky lands a $232mn contract for two additional CH-53K test helicopters

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, is being awarded $232,075,337 contract for the procurement of two CH-53K King Stallion system demonstration test article aircraft, the US DoD announced on Sept. 23 on its website.

Oshkosh Defense to start production of JLTV Joint Light Tactical Vehicle for U.S. armed forces.

The American Company Oshkosh Defense will start the first production of its JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle) with a delivery by the end of September 2016 to the U.S. armed forces. The Oshkosh JLTV will replace US Army and Marine Corps armored HMMWVs which are in service since many years.

French Navy Lafayette Class Frigates Crotale SAM Systems May Be Replaced with SADRAL

During the Euronaval 2016 press tour held last week, an MBDA representative explained that French Navy (Marine Nationale) Lafayette class frigates' existing Crotale SAM system may be replaced with SADRAL launchers. "It is one of the options being considered for the upgrade" the representative said. According to an update to the French Military Planning Law (Loie de Programmation Militaire) released in May 2015, the Lafayette-class is set to receive an upgrade in the near future.
