French Navy FREMM Frigate Languedoc Returned From 104 Days-Long Deployment

The French Navy (Marine Nationale) announced that the Aquitaine-class Frigate Languedoc, the third FREMM (Multi Mission Frigate) of the class, returned to Toulon naval base on November 24th after a long period deployment. The Frigate set sail on August 12th for the a long cruise which took her to the North Atlantic and the Arctic.

In fact, the rail-load operations here concluded nearly a week ahead of schedule in what is the first transportation step toward re-establishing a continuous presence of U.S. Army armored brigade combat teams in Europe.

Bushmaster 4x4 protected vehicles from Australian army will be fitted with new weapon systems.

The Australian Government Department of Defence has announced, Thursday, December 1, 2016, that the weapon systems mounted on the Bushmaster 4x4 Protected Mobility Vehicles are set for an upgrade. The Bushmaster is a highly mobile, ballistics, mine and improvised explosive device (IED) blast resistant Protected Mobility Vehicle (PMV) designed and manufactured by Thales Australia.

Rheinmetall and Day & Zimmermann to make medium-calibre ammunition for USAF F-35

Germany's Rheinmetall and the family-owned enterprise Day & Zimmermann (D&Z) have established a joint venture company. The two firms announced the move at the AUSA show in Washington D.C. in October 2016. Serving as general contractor or subcontractor, the new joint venture will design, develop and manufacture state-of-the-art ammunition for the US market. These include the 25mm ammunition for the F35 Joint Strike Fighter, the US Air Force's latest warplane.

India has signed final contrat to acquire 145 M777A2 155mm towed howitzers from BAE Systems

On Wednesday, November 30, 2016, the Indian government has signed the final contract to acquire 145 M777A2 LW155 155mm ultralight howitzer artillery pieces from the United States. This contract was awarded to the U.S. subsidiary of BAE Systems.

Defence Ministers from Belgium & Netherlands Sign MoU on Common Procurement of Vessels

The Belgian Navy and the Royal Netherlands Navy will replace their existing mine counter measure vessels and frigates with vessels of the same type. The ministers of both countries signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday in Brussels. Belgium also sees opportunity to provide crew members for the Joint Support Ship logistic Zr. Ms. Karel Doorman. Netherlands will assist in the training of the Belgian Light Brigade amphibious.

USAF flies first C-130H equipped with T56 Series 3.5 engine upgrade

The first U.S. Air Force C-130H aircraft to be fully equipped with the Rolls-Royce T56 Series 3.5 engine upgrade has completed its first flight, demonstrating significant improvement in fuel efficiency, lower operating temperatures and improved high-altitude performance, Rolls Royce announced on Thursday Nov. 30.

Philippine Air Force takes delivery of two more FA-50PH fighter jets

Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd., South Korea's sole aircraft manufacturer, delivered two more FA-50PH fighter jets to the Philippine Air Force, local media announced on Thursday, Dec. 1. The two planes are part of a $420 million government-to-government deal inked between Seoul and Manila that calls for the export of 12 FA-50PHs.

Azerbaijan will expand military cooperation with Russia in the next few years

The defense ministries of Russia and Azerbaijan will expand military cooperation also in training Azerbaijani servicemen in Russian military educational establishments, Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Colonel-General Zakir Gasanov.
